Today our family arrived at Camp Kiwanis for our, Hawaiian Themed, Rose Reunion. My cousin Brianna and I were asked to be in charge of the activities for the little kids there. A few families went up to camp a day early so by the time we arrived on Wednesday afternoon the kids at camp were ready for something fun to do. We unloaded my supplies and set up our first activity. A carnival… with tickets, activity booths, face painting, prizes, popcorn, and cotton candy. They had a blast!
After the carnival was done and before dinner was served we quickly set up camp and unloaded the rest of our things.
The kids spent some time exploring and getting reacquainted with cousins.
And of course… got started on building their boats for the boat races held at the end of the week. This is one of the traditions that the kids most look forward each reunion. Getting to saw, hammer, glue, and paint their very own boat to race down the river against everyone else’s homemade boats.
On that first night we only had maybe 1/3 of the families there but we still had a ton of fun.
The evening was spent playing Grandma’s “Genealogy Bingo”, judging desserts in the homemade tropical dessert contest, playing cards, watching movies, flashlight tag, and sitting by the camp fire with my funny uncles:)
