Cameo Heights Mansion

Dan and I just redeemed our gift cards for the Cameo Heights Mansion- Bed & Breakfast Inn last night and man was it a treat! (A big thank you to Becky for thinking of us and for the generous gift) It was so nice to get away, just the two of us for a night. To start our trip out I taught Dan how to take selfies of us together to remember this trip and he loved it…Dan just loves pictures... NOT ;)
Our room was awesome… We stayed in the Greek Suite
Alan, the owner, showed us all of the ins and outs of the Mansion - Restaurant, pool, hot tub, gym, snack bar, theater etc. then he handed us a bingo card.
Written on the bingo card were playful and romantic things to do at the Mansion. If you get 5 in a row you win a prize. Get a blackout, you win a sweepstakes! He also explained that the center square which read, find "THE ROMANCE" hidden in your suite, was an actual object that they had hid in our suite for us to find. If you wanted to even have a chance at getting 5 in a row, and winning Bingo, you had to find "the romance"because it was the center square.
GAME ON
We had 10 minutes before our dinner reservation so...
…we looked under the bed, in the silk flowers, in the bath robe pockets, under the bathroom sink, behind curtains, in all the drawers, above our canopy on the bed, and behind the TV/VCR
Time for dinner, but we'll be back… definitely not leaving without finding "the romance" in our room.
The 7 course dinner was amazing. Here's just a few pictures of some of the food we had. A lot of the produce is grown right in the garden on the property. It was delicious.
After dinner we took a walk around the whole property and started stumbling across a few of the bingo card activities so we played some horse shoes, played a little tether ball...
We found the grand piano and Dan played a little number and went the extra mile and played me some harp as well.
 We walked around the orchards
 Dan rolled down a hill.
We took another selfie together to post on Facebook :)
(He just loves selfies… I mean, look at him)
Then it was back to our room to change…
and to hunt a little more for that dang "Romance".
(What can I say we love a good game)
We looked in the light fixtures, in the decorative vases and columns, in the tissue holder, in the garbage cans, behind pictures on the wall, in between the mattress, under chairs, under the tub in the mechanical area and then again in all of the places we searched earlier in the night.
And guess what folks… I am pleased to report we finally found "the romance".
(little wooden treasure chest box with a note that says romance inside)
My lips are sealed as to the location of "the romance". That way you guys can have as much fun as we did tracking it down.
With "the romance" found we played a few rounds of cards then noticed no one was using the theater so we snagged it and watched a movie.
Next was hot tubing under the stars and then back to our room for the night.
The next morning the Mansion staff delivered warm danishes and juice as a little wake up call to our room and at 9am we went up to a complimentary sit down breakfast.
While at breakfast we heard all the other guests asking the staff if there is really something hidden in their rooms because they looked and looked and couldn't find anything. Turns out we were the only ones who found "the romance" in our suite last night. Good to know everyone was searching right along with us though.
What else can I say we had a blast. It was a much needed break from reality. I had some great quality time with my hubby. It was a super romantic atmosphere and a lot of fun all at the same time.
Would love to do it again someday.

Christmas in the Woods 2014

This year we decided to rent a cabin and have Christmas with the kids up in the mountains. On our drive there we stopped for a tree cutting permit, then took a little hike to find a good one.

We loaded our tree onto the truck, and after it only flying off once, we finally made it to the cabin.

When we walked into the cabin, hauling in our tree/bush, we discovered that the cabin came with a beautifully decorated 15 foot live Christmas tree.  The kids were still really excited about the tree we had just cut down so we still set it up and ended up with two Christmas trees which was awesome.

Christmas Eve was spent setting up our tree, making homemade ornaments, Christmas caroling to the neighboring cabin, Christmas P.J.’s and watching movies by the fire.

We used the camera timer and took a more refined family picture in front of our refined elegant Christmas Tree and then took a fun(our family in it’s natural state) picture in front of our fun family Christmas tree.

Presents we brought up with us from grandparents and cousins went under the “nice” Christmas tree, but I think Santa liked our “family” tree better because that’s where he left all of his gifts.

The kids had a blast on Christmas opening gifts, playing with toys, building legos, trying on makeup, and riding the flying turtle (sitting scooter).

I had an awesome Christmas as well. With lots of kisses and a quilt that Dan secretly spent half the year making me. Now that’s love!

After lunch Kayleb came to visit.

Later that night around 8, Dan’s uncle and cousins were renting the cabin next to us, while checking in the caretakers told them, “That’s so funny we have some Ostler’s from the TriCities staying in the lodge.” So after getting unloaded into their cabin Dale and the boys came up to surprise us and hang out for the night.

The next morning we woke up to snow falling. We packed up and headed home. It was a super fun Christmas with some really great memories made.

 Hailey made the deviled eggs.
